North is always in the same place, but from our unique position, it is never in the same direction. First, throw a shade. Then, cast a light.
The techniques of mind and spirit can’t create what is not there. They can only purify what you always already had within yourself. They remove the barriers and restrictions, allowing the Vast to flow through you, as your true self.
You can never know, though sometimes you can intuit, what lays concealed behind a person’s shell. This is why a student can surpass a master of 10 years in just a month. The practices are, after all, artificial devices meant to train and open you to the Vast. They are not the same as the Vast.
Some one who has already a large amount unlocked, will have done so by natural processes. It won’t mean that he or she is good at the spiritual games. Just as going to the gym is not the only way to get fit. It is just one man’s solution, invention to possibly reach it
The fittest people might never set foot in a gym. They reach pinnacle states of fitness by natural and simple means. So they may enter the gym with no idea what to do with all the machines, and may take a while to acclimatize to the weird and contrived processes. Yet eventually their latent aptitude allows them to surpass others with more experience and formal skill.
A song is made of music, but the song is not music. A book may be made of language, but no book is language. By the same token are spiritual practices contrived tools with the purpose of enlightenment, but they are not the light. And funnily enough, more people have found enlightenment wholly independent of the systems than with.
All true and somewhat true systems were created as formalizations of an enlightened master’s natural experiences. This is confusing the path for the light. Ignoring that a route can’t be followed independently from its terrain, and the destination independent from its origin. North is always in the same place, but from our unique position, it is never in the same direction.
